WiFi
- shows the current wireless networks in range. You can thus track or kind of sight survey your home.
- gives detailed information about a network such as
- SSID (if not hidden)
- channel
- SIGNAL strength
- security (NONE, WEP, WPA1, WPA2, WPA1&2)
- access point MAC address and
- most likely AP (or at least network card) manufacturer.
- as in any other sections the results of any wireless network scan can be emailed
- gives the possibility to “quick” connect to not hidden networks
the only intention of conntecting to wireless networks from within the tool is to quickly find and connect to open hot spots or hot spots
providing for example one time password access. For this reason no connection button is being displayed for hidden networks since
for all other situation where you permanetely want to create connection the devices wireless section still is to be used.
It offers sorting by: (new in 1.62)
- Channel (within a range of equal channel additional sub sorting occurs by signal strength)
- Name
- Security (distinguishes between WPA1,1&2 and 2. Within a security range sorting occurs by signal strength)
- Security 2 (same as Security but treats all WPAs as one security group)
- Signal strength
New in Version 1.64
- Possibility to define a minimum signal strength for networks to being displayed
- Network Type (Ad-hoc/network) is being indicated
